Location and Layout
We visited Boston Pizza Canmore, at 1704 Bow Valley Trail, on the Sunday of the Family Day long weekend. The restaurant has many north-facing windows with stunning views of Grotto Mountain and Lady Macdonald Peak.
The Boston Pizza Restaurant has 2 sections, a bar/lounge area and a family-friendly section for those bringing their families out for a meal. Both sections have a casual atmosphere with lots of parking available, and we decided to sit in the lounge area to watch the Stadium Series on the screens.
Service
We sat ourselves and although it wasn’t too busy in the lounge when we arrived, it didn’t take long to fill up with people trickling in. As expected for a Sunday lunchtime, and especially on family weekend, the family-friendly area of the restaurant was extremely busy with lots of families with young children.
There is a large central bar in the bar/lounge area with multiple big screens for sports games and the indoor decor matched this with Canadian hockey team jerseys on the walls. Bonus points for the good taste in music too!
The Menu
The menu has clear and easy-to-read symbols that indicate guest favourites, vegetarian options, gluten-wise (gluten-free) items and spice levels.
There’s a new item on the menu called ‘The Triple Pay’ – a sharable option of three guest favourite appetizers – Bandera Bread with Santa Fe Ranch dip, signature Thai Bites, and Cactus Cut Potatoes with cactus dip. With every Salted Caramel Panookie sold, $1 goes to charity too.
The pizzas that were ordered for the tables nearby looked very good and something we hope to come back again to order. With an array of pizza types and toppings to choose from, and dips including Blue Cheese, Cactus Dip, Chipotle, Creamy Garlic, Honey Dill, Hot Honey Garlic, Pizza Sauce, Ranch, Santa Fe Ranch, Sriracha Ranch, there’s sure to be an option to suit everyone.
Food & Drinks
We opted for the Spinach Artichoke Dip to start and ordered the Grilled Chicken Clubhouse with Green Side Salad, and the ‘guest favorite’ Hungry Carnivore pasta for mains with a Canadian Classic Ceaser drink to accompany.
Starter
The Spinach and Artichoke Dip with roasted garlic, mozzarella, cajun seasoning, tomatoes, feta, and parmesan was accompanied by crispy, well-seasoned pizza bread. The dip had a creamy texture with lovely flavours from the garlic and feta.
Mains
The Grilled Chicken Clubhouse came with a side salad of shredded beets & carrots, cucumber, green mix, red peppers, and red onions topped with a balsamic dressing.
The sandwich consisted of a garlic cheese baked baguette layered with grilled chicken breast, bacon, lettuce, and tomatoes and it was drizzled with the Boston Pizza secret sauce which had a similar taste to a chipotle barbeque aioli sauce. Everything was delicious, however more bacon, lettuce, and tomato in the sandwich would have beefed it up even more.
The Hungry Carnivore Pasta consisted of penne bolognese loaded with spicy Italian sausage, metaballs, pepperoni, and veg sprinkled with parmesan and parsley served with bacon-crusted garlic cheese bread. A satisfying and filling dish!
Drinks
Their take on a caesar was made with vodka, with the option of substituting gin instead. With celery, salami, green bean and a lime wedge as garnish and horse radish adding an extra kick, the overall flavour was delightful.

We had a great visit to Boston Pizza in Canmore. They also support local products, such as Canmore’s own “Wild Life Gin”.
Although the service was on the slower side due to lack of staffing and the busy weekend, the food and drinks were flavoursome and enjoyable, and there was a pleasant atmosphere too. With an overall score of 4/5, we’d recommend Boston Pizza to people of any age looking for some good food and a casual atmosphere.
